Grapes: Favorita, Arneis, Cortese, Sauvignon Blanc. Region: Italy> Piedmont. Notes: Concrete tank fermentation, 1 year on lees before release, organic.
Description: The estate dates back to 1785, when Bera's ancestors originally purchased some of the land from the Knights of Malta. By this time, the cultivation of grapes -- and in this area, particularly the Moscato grape -- was well- established since the 13th century. A blend of Favorita, Arneis, Cortese, and Sauvignon Blanc earns it the mashup name, Arcese. This wine is refreshingly aromatic, with a depth of flavor. The Favorita, a native grape to Piedmont, adds bright acidity and a pleasant citric tang; Arneis adds a hint of pear; while Cortese rounds out the blend with mineral characteristics. This is a delicious value and a great dinner wine. In fact, the NY Times raved about the food friendliness.
Food pairing: Antipasto, aperitif, carpaccio, caesar salad, cheese (goat), pasta herbed w/ sauces, seafood, salumi, veggies, etc.
