Description: Altesino has built a reputation for making high quality wines dating back to the early 1970’s. Altesino became the first Montalcino estate to introduce the concept of Cru or single vineyard selections in 1975. In 2002, Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini purchased the Altesino winery and is committed to maintaing Altesino’s hard-earned reputation. Seductive red brick and amber color with aromas of umami, leather, and black currants. As the wine decants in the glass, lovely garrique herb aromas become present. The palate is medium-bodied with a nice acid/ alcohol balance, sweet tannins, wood bitters, dried raspberry, black trumpet mushrooms are reveal. This wine will continue to evolve over the next 5 to 10 years.
