Grapes: 65% Zweigelt, 15% Blaufrankisch, 15% St. Laurent, 5% Merlot. Region: Austria> Burgenland> Gols. Notes: Biodynamic farming, very low sulfites,
Description: Established in 1684, located in Burgenland (far east side of Austria) in the village of Gols. This area benefits from the micro-climate created by Lake Neusiedl which makes in perfect for viticulture. Since 2013 the family has been converted to biodynamic farming to create distinctive, enduring wines from native varietals. Mostly Zweigelt with splashes of Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent, “Anita” shows off Nittnaus’ knack for producing lip-smackingly delicious red wine. Soaring acidity lets the spice-drenched red and black fruits dance on the palate, with just enough structure to keep the wine from feeling simple.
Food pairings: Cheese, chicken, game meats, oxtails, pastrami, pork, salmon (oily fish), vegetables, venison, etc.
