Description:Sand Point is a fifth-generation family-owned winery located along the Mokelumne River near Lodi, California. Karen Birmingham started making wine at Robert Mondavi's Woodbridge operation before working at Sand Point. She has a technical approach to winemaking, creating wines with balanced acidity and varietal complexity. She believes that less interference crafts beautiful wines. The estate’s responsibility to enhance the habitat surrounding the vineyards creates an environment where not only can humans live, but any animal that passes through can thrive, as well. Aromas of pine nettles and green herbs are displayed on the nose. On the palate, the wine is dry and light-bodied with crisp acidity. Characteristics of Kiwi, savory herbs, and soft mineral stone are evident on the palate, making this an excellent food wine.
