Description: Thierry Villard, a native of Paris, traveled the world and settled in Chile in the mid 1980s. Villard Fine Wines was established in 1989 in Casablanca, making them one of the pioneers in the valley. Since then, they have been recognized as one of the leading producers from the region. This vineyard sits on foothills off the coastal mountain range just 35 kms from the Pacific Ocean. The Humboldt current running through the cold waters of the pacific, have a big impact in the microclimate, giving the region more moderate temperatures with cool sea breezes; giving an ideal climate for grapes. This is a cool-climate Syrah expressing lean, vegetal character as oppose to jammy, fruit-driven shiraz's you'll find in hot climates like Australia.
