Grape: 100% Chardonnay. Region: France> Burgundy> Cote de Beaune> Chassagne Montrachet. Notes: All estate fruit located next to the Chateau.
Description: Château de la Maltroye is a beautiful 18th century château with 15th century cellars located at the top of the hill in Chassagne-Montrachet. The Cournut family bought the estate in 1940.
The wine exhibits a tight structure with good, firm acidity. Notes of oyster sauce, wet stone, and smoke are wrapped in a medium-bodied, lean, and crisp Chardonnay. Very subtle tones of pear/apple and a hint of buttercream. This wine will evolve into a softer version of itself. Currently it is vibrant with a freshness with a bright citrus and white flower character.
