Grape: 100% Dolcetto
Region: Italy> Piedmont> Alba> Bricco Appiani.
Notes: Biodynamic farming, unfiltered, old vines, vegan-friendly.
Description: Flavio Roddolo is one of the last remaining genuine wine-growers in Piedmont. The bottles are produced annually in the Bricco Appiani hillside outside of Monforte. The vineyards have not been chemically treated for 40 years. Roddolo uses only indigenous yeasts and the vines, planted on calcareous/clay soil results is a brooding, rich, and unique experience. Beautiful aromas of musk and perfume. Gripping tannins are present upfront but doesn’t overpower the black cherry and red currant character. Dolcetto’s can be high in alcohol when matched against its brother Barbera. However, this Dolcetto has great acid/alcohol balance and finishes with hints of tamarind and allspice.
Food pairing: Chicken (grilled, tomato-based), mushrooms, burgers, pasta with veggies, salmon, etc.
