Description: For over 220 years the distillery has sat stoically through long winters, raging storms, and 100 mph wines. It all makes for more harmoniou whisky. Perched atop high ground on the southern edge of Kirkwall on Orkney Island. Highland Park uses two Kilns over 100 years old to hand-turn the barley during the malting process. Highland Park also uses locat hand-cut Peat from Hobbister Moor. Copper and brass pot stills made by the renowned still-maker from Speyside, Forsyth. These are the Vikings keys for a very consistent award-winning Scotch whisky.
The 12 year is predominantly aged in sherry seasoned European and American oak casks. 12 Year Old boasts warm wintery spices that are engulfed in waves of smoky peat, honey, fruitcake and heather.
Single Malt Whisky Definition: A Scotch whisky produced from only water and malted barley at a single distillary by batch distillation in pot stills, one that is produced entirely from malt in one distillary must be aged in oak barrels for at least 3 years. Any age statement on a bottle of Scotch whisky, expressed in numerical form, must reflect the age of the youngest whisky used to produce that product.
