Decription: Originally a sake producer, the White Oak distillery obtained their whisky license in 1919. The distillery is located in the city of Akashi in the neighborhood of Eigashima on the shore of Seto inland sea just west of Kobe, an area with a mild, stable climate. Crafted from 70% corn, 30% lightly peated, crisp UK malt and natural spring water, Eigashima Shuzo "Akashi" White Oak Aged Japanese Whisky is distilled in their custom built lantern shaped copper pot still and aged in mostly ex-bourbon barrels and finished in sherry casks. The resulting spirit is soft and approachable with aromas of black cherry and vanilla with subtle undertones of malt, oak and roasted nuts.
