Grape: Bordeaux Blend. Region: France> Bordeaux> Medoc. Notes: 18 months in French Barrique.
Description: Chateau Canteloup is the second wine of Chateau La Gorce Cru Bourgeois. The estates history dates back to 1820 and was granted Cru Bourgeois status in 1932. Chateau Canteloup is sourced form a single plot of vines averaging 15 -20 years old, north of Saint Estephe. The proximity to the Gironde River gives it a temperate climate averting the spring frost. The grapes are picked fairly late, hand sorted, and fermented in stainless steel and then aged for 18 months if French barrique. The wine displays a deep purple color with a ruby colored rim. Aromas of garrigue herbs, wild berries, and violets. The palate reveals dark loamy character with soft tannins, black currants, and mullberries on the mid-palate. A touch of roasted chestnuts on the long finish. Very nice wine that over delivers for the price.
