Description: Arietta is a super, ultra-premium Napa Valley winery specializing in limited production Bordeaux-style blends. Family-owned by famous auctioneer and wine specialist Fritz Hatton and his wife Caren. The history of Arietta is just short of amazing, starting with a partnership with winemaker John Kongsgaard and consulting viticulturist David Abreu. By working with these two Napa Valley giants, Fritz aimed to find the perfect place to grow vines, one whose terroir and character would produce great wines. A Bordeaux varietal- blend with the core of the fruit from Coombsville, this excellent wine has finesse and balance and a seamless feel and taste. Aromas are intoxicating and the wine is powerful, yet restrained. Deep purple with a violet hue at the rim. The aromas upon opening needs several minutes to express the beautiful eucalyptus, boysenberry, and vanilla-cream. On the palate the entry is silky and smooth upfront with super-polished tannins. The acid helps create a juicy core surrounded by boysenberry, creme de cassis, and developing eucalyptus. The Quartet is designed to be approachable upon release but built to age gracefully for ten years or more.
Food pairing: Braised meats, aged cheese (blue, camembert, triple cream, parmesan), chocolate, roasted duck, grilled meats, lamb, lentils, mint, steak (prime rib, tenderloin, ribeye, etc.), venison, etc.
