Description: Gueli is the project of two brothers Giuseppe & Davide from Agrigento, which is an often forgotten corner of Sicily. Despite their olive oil & almonds being second to none in terms of quality, their main focus is the production of Nero d'Avola. Indeed, the reputation of Agrigento (a noble citta della pietra of Greek origin), is for a Nero d'Avola of distinction. Their 10 hectares of estate are all perched at 500 meters above sea level. Painstakingly low yields and the rigorous loyalty to the Steiner principles of biodynamics allows Gueli to depict Nero d'Avola in their personal, "unpasteurized" style.
U Russu (The red one) is a marriage of Nero d'Avola and 15% of the elusive Biancogiovanni, a mysterious white varietal indigenous to the southern portion of the island, a block the family resurrected in the late 1990s.
