Description: "If the Kistler Winery could be magically transported to the middle of Burgundy's Cote d'Or, it would quickly gain a reputation as glorious as any producer from Burgundy's grand crus." -Robert Parker
The Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay is planted 1800 feet above sea level on the western edge of the Mayacama mountains. Forty-year old dry farmed vines grow in deep red volcanic soils. The red volcanic ash helps define the intense stone fruit, with a firm, lean feel on the mid-palate that settles into rich layers of complexity. This is a bottle capable of drawing as many gasps as Montrachet. Pouring a bright gold in the glass, it’s got an effusive nose of crushed apples and pears, white flowers, and toasted spice, accented by wet rocks and buttercream. It’s full-bodied, round, and lush, with a touch of salted caramel on the lively finish.
Kistler Vineyards is a small, privately owned winery that has produced some of the finest examples of terroir-driven Chardonnays from the new world consistently for over 30 years.
