Description: Winemaker Alexander Milner’s grandfather bought the 18th Century farmhouse at Natte Valley in the late 60’s. Formerly renown for wine and brandy-making, Milner restored the property to its original purpose after studying enology in Sonoma, California and Provence, France. Much of the wonder of his wines come from the rediscovered and resurrected old Cinsault ‘bush’ vines that he found on the historic property. Cinsault was bred with Pinot Noir to create the uniquely South African grape of Pinotage. Here Cinsualt standing by itself exhibits a rare depth and elegance more often associated with its co-parent Pinot Noir. This Cinsault is a light to medium-bodied, approachable red wine that is well structured and graceful. Aromas of Ganache souffle, black fruit, and dried currants. The palate displays a well-balanced wine without any alcohol spikes. The tannins are well-integrated with notes of black currants, black raspberries and a touch of wood root.
Food Pairing: Soft cheeses (such as Brie), sausage, red meats, grilled fish (Tuna, Salmon, Mahi), Duck, Lamb, Ragú (tomato-based meat sauces), etc.
