Description: The famous Giacomo Tachis is the orignial winemaker and has since created other Super-Tuscans, like Ornellaia, Sassicaia, and Solaia. Castello dei Rampolla's Sammarco is one of the pioneering "Super" Tuscan blends that illustrates craftsmanship and quality. The name Sammarco is in honor of Marco di Napoli, brother of Maurizia and Luca. The quality of the wine has established this as a iconic establishing its credentials absent the instruments of media and marketing. Castello dei Rampolla estate has been owned by the same family since 1739. Alceo di Napoli passed the estate on to his children, Luca and Maurizia, who took the estate biodynamic in the 90's. All operations in the cellar are geared to preserving the original quality of the grapes. It is only by working in this way that they can infuse our wine with the distinctive character of the land. We harvest manually.
