Grape: 100% Vignoles. Region: USA> New York> Finger Lakes> Seneca Lake. Notes: Stainless steel (no oak), Sustainable farming.
Description: Vignoles is believed to be a French-American hybrid developed in the early 19th century. Vignoles produces crisp, vibrant white wines with lots of fruit character and has the potential to make excellent dessert wines. This wine offers a bouquet of Elderflower blossoms, caramelized apples, and pear tarts. The palate is off-dry (slightly sweet), light to medium- bodied, with good acid levels that prevent the wine from becoming cloying. In 1988, after nearly 37 years of growing and selling grapes, the Stump family founded Lakewood Vineyards Winery and began producing wines from their sprawling property on Seneca Lake. They practice sustainable farming, including composting, mulching, and cover crops.
Food Pairing: Asian cuisine, spicy foods, pâtés, fruit salads, cheeses, by itself, etc.
